Lady Killer
Get down at Osaka’s largest and most uninhibited ladies-only club event.
Lady Killer started in 2005 and has since gained a large and devoted following of women of all shapes, styles and nationalities. Each event, which takes place in a gigantic space, is packed tighter than an incorrectly sized bra, making it the largest ladies-only party in all of west Japan.
The event used to go down at Maharaja Osaka, a staple in the local club scene since the 1980s, but since September 2018, it has a new home at Maharaja Minamai in Namba. While it is not located as close to Doyamacho, the largest LGBT hub in the Kansai region, it’s still a great venue not too far from Shinsaibashi station.
Lady Killer is more than just repetitive electronic music and a dance floor; each event has a killer (sorry, not sorry) lineup of entertaining and interactive activities. The resident DJs — all female of course! — spin EDM, hip-hop and house tracks while a lineup of flamboyantly dressed go-go dancers do choreographed moves to the tunes. There are usually other performances too, like hula hooping and pole dancing.
Meanwhile, there are fun and often ridiculous ventures to partake in like butt and boob photo contests. Guests can enter for a discounted price if they dress according to the month’s theme (in the summer, it’s ¥500 off if they show up in nothing but a bikini).
The event creates a safe and exciting environment for women to meet other like-minded ladies. Whether looking for a same-sex partner, friends, or simply a place to let loose without worrying about some strange guy trying to grind on you before even saying hello, Lady Killer is the place to party.
Know before you go
First-timers, who may be especially shy or nervous, are greeted warmly by the staff and are welcome to ask questions. Lockers, a powder room, and a lounge area are available making the event as comfortable as it is fun. You can find the date of the next one here. It is only open to those 20 years old and up who identify as female and have a photo ID.
