Nago Pineapple Park

Nago Pineapple Park is a mini-theme park dedicated to Okinawa’s pineapple industry, established in 1935. Priding itself as the “theme park of southern fruits and colorful plants,” you can encounter both on your trip to this unusual attraction located in Nago City.

The self-driven golf carts (decked out in pineapple, natch) that tour the park’s gardens rain or shine are in constant operation and the automated guide is available in Japanese, English, Korean and Chinese. The pineapple farm itself boasts some 100 varieties of pineapple and 1,000 species of tropical plants and fruit bearing trees like mango and papaya.

After you finish your tour, head inside to see the pineapple exhibit featuring facts about this sweet fruit.

The adjacent pineapple factory offers a rare chance see the pineapple cutting, a process that is revealed only two or three times a week.

All-you-can eat!

Seeing all those yummy pineapples will undoubtedly make you hungry or at least curious to try Okinawan grown pineapple, right? Included in the entrance fee is all you can eat freshly cut pineapple, unlimited sampling of pineapple-flavored sweets and pineapple wine tasting, too! All the action happens at the gift shop, which also sells cream puffs and soft serve ice cream. Naturally, they’re pineapple flavored, too! The park’s brightly colored pineapple-themed souvenir packaging make for super cute gifts, too.

Restaurant Palm Tree has more delectable pineapple delights such as a 37-centimeter-tall pineapple parfait that will set you back ¥1,400. That’s a steal, though, considering that it’s big enough for three people. You can also try out local specialties like Okinawa style soba, goya (bitter gourd) champuru, Agu pork and taco rice.
