Dog Cafe Living Room

This pack of prancing, playful pugs will melt your heart!

Even though dog cafes are not as usual as cat cafes in Japan, Kyoto’s Dog Cafe Living Room is picking up the slack. With a passionate staff and the help of 12 stout and stalwart pugs, this cafe has won the hearts of many.

Whether you’re a diehard fan of the breed with their trademark curly tail or just a dog lover, hop over to Dog Cafe Living Room after a long day of sightseeing in Kyoto city area. The cafe itself is small, but even on a busy day, the attention-craving pugs make the atmosphere worth it.

Unlike cat cafes where it’s often difficult to get the attention of one of the feline residents, each doggy is dying to meet you! It’s clear that each pug has its own distinct personality. New guests are immediately greeted with a wave of eager pugs clamoring for an open lap to sit on.

However, although it might be tempting, be sure not hand out all of your dog treats too quickly. They might love attention but these pugs’ loyalties lie with those that have access to treats. For a few hundred yen you can request additional treats.

Keep track of your favorite “resident” through personalized jerseys the pugs wear, each bearing their name on it like “Kuu” and “Purin.” You will also be able to see the customers’ top-rated pugs from the last three months. Before leaving the cafe be sure to place your provided heart sticker on your favorite pug’s picture, and cast your vote for the next pug of the month! Awwww.
